Electroforming is a unique process of creating jewelry that involves the use of electricity and metal plating. This process allows for the creation of intricate and organic shapes that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through traditional jewelry making techniques.

When I create a new piece of jewelry, I start by sketching out my ideas on paper. I then choose the materials and stones I want to use, and begin the process of crafting the piece by hand. This part takes a long time because I want to make sure I'm choosing the best crystals for the piece and designing it exactly how I envision it.  If this is a custom piece, I want to bring your vision to life.

To begin the electroforming process, I start by taking a crystal and attach it to a conductive surface, such as copper wire. I will sometimes create pieces from polymer clay. I paint the piece with conductive paint on every part I want metal to build up. I seal the stone to protect it and the jewelry is then submerged in a solution of copper metal particles and an electrolyte solution. Electricity is then passed through the solution, causing the metal particles to be deposited onto the conductive surface. This process can take several hours or even days, depending on the size and desired thickness of the metal plating. Once the metal plating is complete, I carefully remove the jewelry from the electrolyte bath to reveal the final electroformed piece. The piece is then cleaned and polished to bring out the natural beauty of the metal. If the jewelry needs to be plated in gold or silver, I send a completed batch to an outside company for this step.

Electroforming is a time-consuming process, with many more steps not mentioned but the end result is a beautiful and unique piece of jewelry that cannot be replicated through traditional jewelry making techniques. I love the organic and natural feel of electroformed jewelry and enjoy experimenting with different shapes and textures to create one-of-a-kind pieces. I take great pride in my work and am committed to using only the highest quality materials in my jewelry. I believe that every piece of jewelry should be a work of art, and I strive to create pieces that are both timeless and unique.
